I have a pretty close to stock 440 six pack with an automatic and no stall converter. Yesterday I took the car for the first time out an took 2 lobes off the MP purple Cam and wrecked 2 lifters. I don't know any history on the motor build other that it sat a long time. I don't have much confidence in choosing a new cam and lifters for this motor, just want it to be powerful yet street able with the automatic.

Thanks
Brent

You should call Bob Karakashian aka Mr. Sixpack. He makes custom cams that are suppose to be real good for Sixpacks. I think his number is 248-477-7776. Some members are using his cams.

Did you do some sort of pre start lubing procedure?

Like:
-pre-lube the motor like it was a fresh start up through the distributor.
-While doing that spin the motor and check is the valve train was getting oil
-Maybe put some additive in their too

I could have been worn before you even started it up. Might want to check seat pressures and size of valve springs.

If you don't go with a custom grind and don't mind some adjusting from time to time a Mopar 528 solid works great w/ a stockish 6-pack. As mention you must use heavy amounts of break-in AND a can of Zinc additive at each oil change. Even with syntho oil.

I have a Mr Six Pack cam as well. Just waiting for my block to get done at the machine shop. Heard nothing but good things about them.
