I reused a water pump bypass hose on my 318, you know the short molded one, and I knew the fitting on the new Eddy manifold was wider than stock. The hose really seemed to stretch on install (I used Vaseline though). Sure enough, as soon as the stat cracked open, I've got a mess from the weakened, ruptured hose. Is there a part # solution to this, something a bit wider? This was probably a Gates.

wider which way? any possibility of a pic? there's a Gates 20963 but that is likely the regular dimention one. has 1" ID for the 3/4 NPT nipple & does not appear to be longer or have a different bend than the normal ~90 deg ones. here's a BTT for ya. EDIT would adding a hardware store close nipple/45 deg female fitting solve this?

Wider: The fitting supplied on the eddy is wider than the stock mopar. I don't think an angled fitting would fix the problem, as the shape of the hose is fine. I might could use a stopdown adapter allowing me to reuse the mopar fitting. But it would seem to me that plenty of folks are not having to do that.

68. Smaller, eh? Maybe I'd have luck if I looked for a unit for a 360.

The later small blocks use a larger bypass hose. I know my 73 did.

Harold Are you saying the nipple in the intake is larger than the 1" OD (3/4" NPT) nipple that Ma uses? We need a pic?

evidently have an early water pump with the smaller bypass fitting and the intake is made to utilize the later large bypass hose. Best fix is to get the later water pump.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

RRobert: Yes, that's what I'm saying. I just didn't want to write "nipple".
MfL: Makes perfect sense!
