I've just bought 70 challenger SE original 318 but now has a 440. Would an SE be rarer than a regular model ? my reason for asking is i'm going to have it painted and i dont like vinyl roofs, so was thinking of taking it off and fitting a larger rear window.

1970 Challenger with 318 - Approximately 25,400 built.

1970 Challenger SE with 318 - Approximately 3,800 built.

If it originally had a manual transmission the number drops way down.

Barry, how many SE's with the leaning tower of power?

I had one of those. Cool car, but wouldn't get out of it's own way.

Keep the back glass and vinyl roof , even if you do not like it .
By VIN, the car is a 29 , keep it that way .

Not a big fan of vinyls either, but SE's are unique...perhaps a GATOR grain top would change your mind?

my car was originally an "N" code SE, never a fan of the vinyl roof or small window. 860 some made, so I rebuilt it the way I wanted.

70BigBlockSE, I agree.
I have a '70 318 SE that I am turning into a 505 SixPack, with correct air cleaner and T/A hood......Minus the S/E window.

Have you ever tried backing up with an SE? MASSIVE blindspot.

Unfortunately the guy who owned it died at 55, all he did was race it the last 2 yrs, it ran 11.9 with a dominator, hyd cam, ported 906's, reverse pattern VB, 3800 converter 4.10 suregrip. I aim to change the vb for a stock one with a shift kit, change the shifter, try and source a centre section with 3.23 or 3.55 gears. I will be happy if it goes mid to high 12's because i already have a racecar, i want this to be more streetable.

Barry, I think your SE numbers are off. Maybe you're looking at R/T SE?
