I'm considering the purchase of a 426 Hemi block that tossed a rod. The cylinder was previously sleeved, then the piston somehow got stuck to the sleeve and beat the crap out of it again.
Is this block going to be re-buildable?
I need your input.
Thanks,
Robin

I am assuming it's an iron block? If so, you can't tell until the old sleeve is removed and the damage assessed. Iron blocks usually have cracks into the water behind the sleeve. If it’s not too bad a new sleeve with some block sealer might solve that. Sleeves come in standard thickness, but you may have to have one made extra thick to take up the extra clearance. Any good machine shop should be able to diagnose and make suggestions. I just did that with an iron wedge block and it all worked.
