Thinking of trying the small block MP .557/296 solid cam, calls for the MP 3614542 dual springs. The retainer for these springs is MP 4452033 and is listed for single and dual MP springs. My question is, are they the same retainers used as the stock replacements? My X heads are already machined for dual springs so if I could reuse my retainers and locks it would be a drop in.

MP springs, except for the stock hydraulic stuff, are junk. The spring pressures will not be correct. Use a Comp or other manufacturers spring along with whatever retainer they recommend.

I would definatly use another vendor for springs. I've actually had springs with different pressures from MP in the past. Howards Cams is a good source, good prices and VERY customer service friendly.

^^^^^^^ this X3, MP seat pressure will be all over the map as evedenced by a set I have in a box sitting high on a shelf out of sight.
