hi

I thought I remembered checking out an old thread that went into depth about the painted letters, usually A B C or D on the side of the block designating cylinder size

can anyone find that for me?

The letters weren't always painted on the side, they were sometimes stamped in the pan rail.

IIRC, a C bore was spot on dimension while A and B were a few ten thousandths undersized and D and E were a few ten thousandths oversize. Pistons were marked to match the bore size.

Have a 66 hemi block - each letter is stamped in the pan rail - have 3 wedge blocks - none have any markings painted or stamped

I saw a 70 GTX 6 barrel block with it on the side, my 95 Neon block even has it, but in the end.

FSM for 426 Hemi

A = 4.24975
B = 4.25025
C = 4.25075
D = 4.25125
E = 4.25175

Wow, that's neat. Recall seeing the painted letters on blocks but didn't know, specifically, what they meant.
