We are updating a 57 Dodge Wagon that belongs to my son. More on that in a bit, right now we need a source for the mounting nut that screws onto mid 60s the dash mounted ignition switch. We can buy the switch, we can buy the key tumbler, but apparently your suppose to reuse the original lock nut. That might be fine, if we ever had one, the switch attaching system on a 57 Dodge is different then it is on the 63-whenever they went to the column switch. We need a nut (we will make any that fit work), or a size/thread count, or a source for a replacement.

The 57 wagon will have a 5.9 Magnum with the electric 518, we are keeping the efi. Its coupled with a disk brake 8.8 Ford positraction (or whatever Ford call it) rear end with 3:73 gears. We have added disc brakes to the front, all the front suspension has been rebuilt. We are replacing the car wire harness, we have added the Hot Wire engine harness, and we are adding a digital dash. The car is getting 4 Caddy leather bucket seats and a custom counsel.

Right now, the motor and trans are bolted in, the engine harness is attached to the motor, the body harness has all the wires routed and is ready for terminal ends. We have the dash out of the car for a clean up, modification, and paint. The only seat mounted in the car is the driver seat, and we need to figure out how to do a floor shifter, and gas pedal. We have the front sheet metal off the car, except the hood. We do have the new power booster and master cylinder mounted, the front disc brakes are ready for fluid, and we have the parts to redo the rear disc brakes on hand. We have new shocks waiting for the install. We have a fuel tank with the efi pump mounted and waiting for fuel hose connections. We have made the body modifications to go from the quarter panel fuel tank and filler tube to the where the new tank is mounted, we are keeping the fuel fill in the same location.

The car itself is from CA and has very little, to almost no rust (it still has, complete, solid, original floors and the headlight brows are original flawless factory metal). It came to IL before 2001 and has been garaged until it arrived here last year, about this time. It came with many of the upgrades in boxes, and it came with a twin, complete parts car that has all the trim missing from the CA car.

We have a list of stuff to do yet that is 3 pages long, and my son wants to drive it this year! To complicate things even more, April he starts a new job that will add an hour drive each way to his work schedule. Its the little stuff, like this ignition mounting nut, that is going to mess us up.

I did go out and take some pictures, and will post them up as soon as I can find them on my computer....

Anyone know where we can get that stupid ignition mounting nut? Gene

I don't have a picture, but maybe can take one tomorrow. The size is about 15/16 and its very fine thread. I found a 7/8" fine thread nut, and the switch is slightly larger, (but smaller then 1" and this would have been before metric invaded us) and much finer threads. Gene

Like this? Look on e-bay...use "1962 dodge ignition switch bezel" for the search.
