I don't mind going by the law but why make the rules so hard to understand. If you ask 10 people in the know, you will probably get 10 different answers.

Michigan has very light laws on towing, trailering and weight restrictions...Its the biggest reason our roads are so screwed up..

We have decent weight restrictions.. the issue is
that we arent a through state to get the federal money
like other states(our inter state roads stop at a US
border)
EDIT
Then all the tax money has gone to anything but the
roads.. and now they want more tax and still its not
Guaranteed where it would go

any type of monetary value constitutes a bussiness. mich does have class a and b licence on a cdl.

But not for a standard license. 26000lbs is legal on a personal vehicle, non commercial with no CDL.
Doug

Don't forget your medical DOT card, boys and girls. Anything over 10,000 lbs I believe. But, wont swear to it.

Been thinking of getting a new or used car trailer to upgrade from the 24 foot one I have now. I bought it used many years ago and I know I am over the trailers tagged weight limit (3500 pound axles) with my Duster, quad, tools, and now sometimes over 55 gallons of alcohol. I found a used (2011) 28 foot Bravo Icon and its a beautiful trailer with 7000 pound axles.

Why are you not looking for a trailer with 2x5,000 axles = 10,000 lb rating?
Or is that trailer with 2 x 7,000 lb axles? And 14,000 rating which is the "legal" problem?

Even a 24 ft trailer can weigh 4,200-5,000 lbs plus a 2,800 lb car is over 7,000 lb total.

Live in Ohio, truck and trailer are registered in Ohio, but I tow into Pa quite often! Had a question on towing rules in Pennsylvania, I called the State Police Barracks in Mercer County. They told me that they had no one their that could answer those questions and that I should call the Lawrence County barracks and talk to a certain trooper. So I got to talk to him and he really had no black and white answers. Numerous times, he told me "well that's a gray area, and it is to the troopers discression", so that tells me, your screwed if he has had a bad day! HEMI JOE
