Damn . The blaster 2 has 0.7 pri ohms and I'd go with a Pertronix 2 coil (0.6 ohms). were you running the recommended 0.8 ohm ballast with it. My first FBO coil was leaking out of the top after initial startup & Don replaced it for free bless his heart after I sat on it for a year then contacted him & the one he sent died on the road in short order (started missing then 15 miles later the muff exploded & almost scared the guy behind me into the ditch) as I coasted into the other lane then to the side of the road

I had left the key on while trying to fix a ground problem for a signal light issue, may have been about 1.5 hrs (kinda forgot about it),
Coils will do that when ON for 1.5 hours or less

I learned my lesson on my Blaster II coil when the cap started leaking all over my valley pan from being mounted horizontally. I mounted the replacement at a 45º angle on the valley pan rail. When I drive it gets a perfect blast of air so it doesn't overheat...but yeah...1 1/2 hours stationary will do that to ya

a few years ago, a had a '58 chevy wagon. 283. i put a petronix conversion in the dist, and used one of their coils. i had it running one day, and was adjusting the timing, when my hand hit the coil, it burned my hand. then i noticed the top of the coil was starting to melt!
