The 6AL is the only one I have owned and seems to be the one most guys with 'street' cars use.

you need a 6A or 6AL, the same box but the AL has a rev limiter built in. I use 6AL in my lil truck, insurance is nice

I've used 6AL's in a few things (a Road Runner included actually) and always had great luck.

Made my Charger idle better too...helping to burn all the fuel from the six-packs that always tended to run a little fat at idle.

70DRRunner, do you already have electronic ignition? Is your distributor recurved or stock?

1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's
1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

chedck out the Mallory equivalents. All the same features, except digital circuitry instead of analog. Oh yeah, a lot cheaper too. I really noticed an improved idle quality after installation too.

I really like the 6AL used in conjuction with a re-curved older electronic Chrysler distributor.

Seems to be street friendly and parts for both the distributor (pickup, cap, rotor etc.) and new MSD boxes are as close as the nearest parts house.

Another vote for the Mallory HyFire. More features for less $. There are 3 or more to chose from.
I'd get the HyFire 6AL, it is digital has a built in single stage rev limiter.
The MSD 6AL is analog and you need to buy chips for to operate the rev limiter.
I'd also go for one of the recommended Mallory coils so you know everything is compatabile. They have several models OK for a street car, from a OEM appearing canister coil to an E coil.

6bbl car has original, re-curved/limited, distributor w/one set of points through a hidden 6A. No difference in mph on 1/4 mile but starts on 8 degree mornings, no problem & idles much better.
