Can anyone tell me what size of heater hose fitting that threads into a stock 360 intake manifold ? I purchased a 2 piece kit at Carlisle this year and the heater hose fitting is to small. The one in the kit appears to be 3/8's. So I measured the inside of it and it appears to be 1/2", so I go to the parts store and pick one up and it's to big. Next dilema, I can't seem to find a molded lower radiator hose. Water pump side is 1 3/4's and the lower rad. is 1 1/2. I can get the flexable hose, but that's not what I want. Top hose was no problem. The parts guy gives me one for a slant to try, but it's to small to go over the water pump. Man I had lots to do today to try to get the engine running and didn't get much done and these small issues are killing me. Any help would great. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday after work and go to a real parts store where someone knows what they are doing. The car is a 75 dart not like some 30 year old foreign car , man I just don't get some of these parts stores and their computor dorks. Sorry for the rant. I sort of figured I was in trouble when I told the young man what I was working on and he didn't have a clue what a dart was.

the heater hose nipples are 3/8 NPT which is not what they measure with a ruler. Do you have a /6 radiator in there that has a 1&1/2" lower nipple

May have a slant rad. not sure. The slant hose fits perfect on the rad. side, but not on the pump side. Don't know the history of the car, may be possible. The hose that I first installed fit the pump perfect, but was to big for the rad. I guess I'm the goober. I can get the flexable, with the dimentions I need, but I don't like the looks of them. The rad does appear to be 1.5 and the pump appears to be 1.75. The radiator was in the car when I bought it and may have been replaced with a slant one. The heater hose kit I got is supposed to be for a smallblock ,but may be it was baggged wrong or something. There is no markings on the fitting and the parts store only had 1/2 inch or 3/8's. The one in the kit looks like 3/8's. I remember back early this summer when I pulled the engine it did have a lower flex hose, that's probaly why because a molded hose wouldn't work.

I have cut a piece off of a junk rad hose & used it as a spacer to solve the same dilemma that you have(with a generous amount of permates #2, my fav) between EACH layer & no problems. Cut it the same length as the length of the nipple from just behind the raised sealing ridge back to the rad tank, position the clamp(2 clamps works good also) & it'll function well.

Try an 87 Diplomat, 318. It has 1 /2" on the rad side and 1 3/4 on the water pump side. Assuming your talking about a 73 B body it might fit. Check out Rockauto.com for a picture, might help if you told us what car it was.

They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Thanks, for the replys and idea's. I did a search on napa's site and came up with a lower hose that has 1.5 id on one end and 1.75 on the other end, which may work. The # is NBH7344. I'll have to check on Monday. This number may help other's that may have a similar problem as I do.
