I am looking for info and especially pictures of Billy Harpers old 68 Superstock cuda , car was silver and raced in the Kentucky area in the late 70s and early 80s, and was called Hemi Affair with redline racing on the quarters. Thanks

I'm sure Billy still has it, he never sells anything. He was telling me recently about his older cars. There was a couple Barracudas mentioned, maybe one is the old SS car.

Billy Harper doesnt own the car anymore, the car was owned by Pat Goff in Mn. I talked to Harper and he ran this car before his 70 cuda which he had 2 70 cudas and still has one, does anyone remember the 68 car when he raced it,I asked Bill Harper for pics but cant find his old albums. He said he bought it as a SS/AA car in Kentucky in the mid 70s and it was already a SS/AA at that time and was black,he thought he bought it from Billy Williams but it wasnt the bo29 car that Williams had so can anyone figure out what car this was or what history it has,its a 383 car with some original hurst parts on it,and thanks for the pic from Elkton, does anyone Kentucky remember this car?

Sure I remember it...You are right, it was not a BO29 but had a lot of the parts on it...Ray Christan's car was the same deal...

Yes I own the car and am trying to find old pics of it. Bought it a couple years ago after hunting it for 15 years when I missed out buying it the first time 15 years ago.

The photos I have are packed away somewhere, I just remember some shots taken in my driveway. I don't know of any prior history, but have often wondered what happened to the car. Has it changed much over the years ?

The car was always around 10.80-10.90...Typical build for the time SS springs, Mild 426 with a flat tappet cam.Seems to me he was pretty hard to beat..The car was real consistant...

Car still looks the same and has the same paint job that Jim DeFew of Benton Kentucky applied over 30 years ago,no name on doors just red line racing on the quarter, car hasnt been run in over 15 years now and is kind of a time capsule for the 70s,the last owner did put a new S and W cage and rear frame rails and small tubs to tuck the tires inside the wheelwell with stock outer wheelhouses, and added ladder bars and slightly narrowed the rear but other than that car still looks the same. The last owner wanted to try to run the car harder and wanted it safe, but is not up to todays new A/H stuff but still a neat old nostalgia type car .

Lou in Ct. is who I got it from as he was downsizing some of his mopar collection and I was glad he sold it to me as I lost the sale of the car to him years ago,and got my second chance as my hunt paid off.

The Williams car that I remember was the BO car that he ran, Jack McKnight also had one that Bill built and tuned the motors for. My cousin is married to Defews son, Jeff, if you want I can see if Jim has any photo's. He is only lives 20 miles from me and still does custom paint, very talented guy.

I was told DeFew had a fire years ago and lost alot of pics but any leed would be great, also might be able to trace the car before harper this way as well.I heard Harper ran this car for years and did well with it so I am hoping I can turn up some neat old photos of the car.I was also told at one time that Jim DeFew used to paint Elvis motorcycles ,neat piece of trivia that I wondered if was true.Did Jack McKnight have 2 cars ,that name was attached to this car through conversation as well.

I was told that Williams got the car he was racing from Jack. The last time I saw him (it was black then) run it was in the early 80s, it was an automatic and Jacks was always a stick.

I've heard the same rumor about Jim and Elvis's motorcycles, don't know if there is any truth to it though. He can build anything, motorcycles, street rods roundy round cars, even the wood furniture in his house. Some of the custom paint jobs he turned out have been amazing. In the late 70s and early 80s he raced dirt cars and it was always cool what kind of paint jobs Jims cars were going to have. Like I said in my previous post, he is a very talented individual. I'll try to call Jeff tonight from work and see if he can dig up anything for you.

Jeff said he'd call me if his dad had anything. I'm assuming he doesn't as I haven't heard from him. Jeff said if they had any photos that most likely they were lost in the fire. Sorry.
