I installed one of the plastic accuform style dashcaps that I bought from Legendary about 9 months ago when I bought the interior. The guy sold me the thing over the phone, it was about $50 higher than I could have bought it from somewhere else for, but I figured since it was from Legendary that it may be a better quality cap. Well, I installed the thing with the windshield out so the end result would be better. I followed the instructions to the "T" and I pulled all the window masking off today to get it ready to paint in a couple weeks, and low and behold the dash cap is cracked!!! The car has not moved out of the garage since I put the thing on, and its cracked!! I called Legendary and they are closed today. Has anyone else have one of these crack??

Number 1, Legendary dosen't make the cap, dropshiped from MFG, or item they had in stock,....Number 2 dash caps are crap, should have installed a new repro pad, or had your old one redone by just dashes, I know it sucks what happen, but IMHO I would never do a dash cap, as they tend to lift, crack, etc,.......trying to save a few now will cost you more time and money.....pull the pad, and do it right the first time, to avoid grief

Dash caps are fine. The cheapie ones fit poorly and they crack because of it. But the better ones are not bad at all. Not as good as a real dash pad, but the casual observer would not know the difference at first glance. Definitely better than running around with a cracked up stock dash pad and they are good for the budget minded enthusiast. Not all of us crap out gold bars.

Sorry to hear, what a pain in the...

This is a situation where you find out if a vendor is full of poop or they do the right thing. Keep us posted on how they respond.

I put a red dash cap on my 89 Dakota. Fits and looks factory. No cracks. Forgot the name of the supplier. I'm happy...

Barry I had a Black 71 RR/GTX dash recovered by just dashes, using the original core sent to them, really nice, $525 with shipping included (at the time)....big chunk of coin, but well worth it!....there are some repro 71 Charger/ RR dashes out, but heard to many problems with them, and they run for almost the same amount of money to have Just Dashes redo your original

Some of the dash caps are good to use, and you won't have a problem,....but some dashes don't lend themselves well to having a cap put on them, like E bodies, or 71-4 B Bodies,...but most of the 69-70 B's...and.A bodies, lend themselves well to being covered with a cap, as do most of the trucks,

Some of the E body dashes cost upwards of $1000!..........A friend had his 59 Caddy dash done by them $2000!!!!!!!.....so $525 don't look bad!

Just that!...to many cracks!, when they receive your pad, they strip it, evaluate the foam, a few cracks get filled, and shaved, it gets recovered in their vacumm tank, then they have to trim off the excess, cut out some holes, etc....if you have a really bad core (foam) they have to refoam it, and carve it to shape, putting in all the details you see on the finished skin, then recover it,.....their even getting picky about surface rust on your exsisting frames!.....so yeah, your paying for labour!!!!!....plus a petroleum made product, that gets the same rise in price as crude!.....but in the end, you get a nice looking "new" pad that will last decades (if you take care of it!), looks "right" in the car, and adds value to your ride!......I have several E bodies, and the prices just kill'ya!....but what are you going to do!

Dave,....if your doing the dash in your sig pic, 69-70 B body pads usually run about $350 at just dashes, the repro 69-70 pads have been redone by BE&A parts,( the "old" ones on the market, done by another vendor?, had some issuses!).....I haven't heard anything "good or Bad" about them, but BE&A dose make some nice stuff, plus Mike Ross stands behind his products 150%.....I believe there priced around $250????.......Anlauto (moparts member) I believe was to purchase one?......perhaps he will chime in?

Just Dashes wanted $450!! Just for my 1965 Satellite console glovebox lid only! Not including the tailpiece. They can Kiss My Entire Mopar Butt! I bought a Complete, Perfect, Entire console for $275! Plastic dash cap cracks can be glued with no trace to the naked eye if you try.

Ultimate Rides of El Paso TX makes excellent 71 B body pads on original steel cores. I think his name is Alan. A friend of mine got two of his E body pads and they were really nice. Maybe someone will chime in with more contact info.

I contacted them today. They told me to take pictures with my digital camera and email them to Legendary and they would forward them to the Mfg and take care of it. I'll let you know when I get it in my hand............
