Went to mockup the engine tonight and my old 3/8"x16 TPI cam bolts were not threading into the cam correctly. The threads in the cam looked to be fine thread, so I checked with a 3/8x24 TPI tap and it spun in no problem. So now I need to get some new bolts for the timing chain gear.

Anyone else have this happen? This is the custom Comp cam with the HXL lobes for the 500" stroker engine. The cam that came out of the engine also was a HXL lobe custom cam, but was tapped for the 3/8"x16 TPI bolts. I think the new cam is a different core and has a gold coating / color?

Yeah, the 3/8x24 thread glitch happened to me this past year. The next two cams came with the 3/8x16 threads.

I also ordered a cam from them and it was not the original thread pitch.
