Hey guys, I know long time no post. I'm in California and am in need of some kind of documentation showing that a 1979 lil red express had 2 cats in its exhaust system. Long story short, I had to go to a smog referee and failed the visual because he couldn't find any official notes saying there should be 2 cats and not 1. He is willing to accept as many sites as I can throw at him. So, if you can do me a favor and have anything that might help me in my situation send it my way. Thanks ahead of time guys

I am not sure this link will work correctly - so if it does not just go to the main page at Walker and search for the truck.

It will walk you through the steps and you will get a diagram of the exhaust with two cats.

Thats just nuts - what kinda bozo exhaust set up would ya have to run twin stacks through a single cat? Find somebody with an factory parts book and scan the relevant page.

parts manual is what I would use...
IF you were local, I would say bring it by....
why are you are a referee anyway, gross polluter?
if Chrysler Historical Society was still around, they could help you out...

Thanks everyone for the replies and links. I ended up getting the service manual for '79 where an exhaust diagram can be found showing two cats clear as day. It can't get any more official than that. I'm having to see a ref because I've changed a few things over the years (nothing major) and the truck just seems to give smog stations the willies. It's a shame there isn't some sort of special cert I could get for that truck that would allow me to forgo any smog inspections as long as I kept the mileage under 5k a year.
