Starting the resto on the Rallye 1972 Charger and decided the wheels are going to be factory steel steel rims with dog dish caps on them. So in thinking I have a couple sets of 15in steel wheels in can have made for them and don't know of any places in California that build rims. When frank passed away at Stockton Wheels, i lost the only source I liked and knew about. I figured I could have the fronts 15X8 and 15X10 in the rear. While in at it, also need back spacing measurements for those wheels if any body have the measurements handy. By going with steel wheels I can keep a factory look and have a nice set of cooper cobra' i can use (235/60R15 and 295/60R15 pairs I alrready have here). Looking to do the rims in next few weeks, so info will be helpful.

Not that I can help with a wheel vendor other than the normal suspects not I gotta ask, did oyu mean 295/50/15s or do they really make 295/60/15s?? I would be very interested in where to get those.

Thanks

Have you talked to Advanced Wheels in Morgan Hill?

I really like the Wheel Vintiques wheels that you can buy through Summit Racing. They're on the back of my car and worked out great. Nevermind the bigger cap, they use the smaller cap.

You could just find a pair ov 15x8" Ramcharger steelies for the front. They're not that hard to find, and deals can still be hard. I sold my last (spare) set ov them just last year. I had these on all 4 on my 72 Charger and up front the offsets were perfect... for tire fitment anyways (4 1/4" BS). But you need WAAAAAY more tire than a 235 on the front ov that car... that would look awful.

As for the back that same rim fit very well and the offset was almost perfect (just a tad in from where i'd prefer). Had 295/50's on mine. They have the same centers as the very common 6" steelies you see everywhere. You'd only have to widen a pair.

X2 I have 15x10s on my dart, got them from summit, with custom backspacing.

I think they only offer aftermarket wheels, no repop or modified ones.

I will check out the wheel vintiqe and see what they have for wheels. Thanks everyone.

I think Stockton has re-organized after they had some problems. The website looks updated and probably has the same employees that made the wheels. Might give them a call. Mike

Migs,
If I recall correctly, the most backspacing you get put on the rear is 5"...and then you really have to watch how much sidewall buldge/flex you get, or you will have tire to spring contact.

Stock Backspacing was 4 1/4" as mentioned. If you go custom backspacing, I would shoot for 4 1/2" or MAYBE 4 3/4". I don't personally like a 15" rim with the 5" backspacing and a tall tire.

Yes yes do you really have rears in the 295-SIXTY-15 size with raised white letters? Thats exciting if you do. The 295 50 15 is a great width but just too short in my opinion.

Keep old mopars alive.

If you are going to have a set custom made then you might as well go up to a 16" rim. You'll find way more tire choices. As for the rear back spacing you might be able to get away w/ 5" factory is 4.5" I have 15x9 w/ 5 inches of backspace and the fit. 275/60/15 The taller bigger tire might "bulge" some so be careful.
