Using the highway weigh station scales: '71 Challenger conv, all-iron small block auto, 8 3/4, without driver and 1/2 tank fuel: 3500 53% front 47% rear That's the heaviest one I have, all my other E-bodies are 3450 and under on the same scale. Point of interest, I rented a fully loaded 2014 Wrangler Unlimited and on the same scales that thing was 51% frt and 49% rear.  The steering response and handling in that thing was exceptional for what it is.

Here are the corner weights from the '09 2dr Wrangler I had. With an increased track and high roll centers, it handled pretty darn well. Their weight distribution is what helps make them so potent off road and in adverse conditions...they'll walk around any similar equipped pickup in a situation.

Right you are going with your original post of some 3,400 pounds for your current car,,,,makes it some 1,000 pounds lighter than the new Hellcat....which is spec'd at 4,400 pounds.
Figuring hp to weight and all that, what's that 1,000 pounds cost,,,likely some 150 horsepower???? 700 plus hp sounds not so impressive now!

Yeah I'm not impressed by the Hellcat at all, too much weight
The new Viper ACR though...

I honestly think that it doesn't need it. Current Vipers make 640hp which is only about 10% less than the 707hp of a Hellcat engine. Most people with average driving skill like myself, can hardly utilize 250-300 hp at a road course. Anything over 500hp, I would want aerodynamic downforce and 50/50 front/rear. To me, the Viper ACR is an impressive balanced package while the Hellcat isn't.

Very true, there is a lot more to running corners than peak horsepower.

YES!!! I've been saying this for years. I've beat a LOT ov fast cars in my 225HP GT Mustang. With a 320HP Cobra engine and basic bolt-ons i'd be an utter menace.
BUT... we are talking superubercars here, and as with the silly Hellcats and 350Shelby's, reason is out the window. The ACR Viper sounds like a sound package... but it still SOUNDS like (to quote someone else here) a UPS truck. Hell... whether a Hellcat plant or 'just' the SRT8 6.4L... please just make it a V8.
How about that ACR with an ALL aluminum 7L 426 (gen 3) Hemi and 640HP... Yummy.

I have had the opportunity to watch the Vipers on the track, all Generation at once and all with great drivers. The refinement of the 08-10's is HUGE, and I can only imagine the better tweaks and balance on the Gen 5's.

Ok. Spent some time today on a friend's set of Intercomp scales. Wireless no less. I'm glad to see it down to 3209 lbs. Here's the results compared to the last time I scaled it. Did some aluminum stuff to motor and engine compartment. But added subframe connectors and bigger torsion bars ( differences in bold)...  3209 lbs. w/o driver *No spare tire, 5/8 tank gas (10.5 gallons) 57.28% front 42.72% rear 340/416: alum. intake, alum. Edelbrock head heads, alum water pump, Scat 4" stroker kit, TTI step headers - 727 trans, stock driveshaft
