I need heads for a 572 Roller Cam pump gas hemi and am looking at Stage V, Indy, and Edelbrock. Hughes Engines are claiming 446 CFM on their prepped Edelbrock head ( Hughes Link ) for $2800.

Looking for feedback and experiences with all options and price paid if you have it. Thanks!!!

i have FHO prepped Stage V heads. they flow close to that, you can check it out on the FHO web site. i would have to look for the price, but i'm sure it was more than that. is that price bare?

i'm sure the edelbrock are good heads, but i would go with Stage V. they have been around a long time, a know quantity. but then i guess the same argument could be made for edelbrock.

Right now the Edelbrocks are the most bang for the buck. Indy has a similar product (their Hi-Po's) but...that's Indy. Stage V is my favorite but more bucks by the time you have someone complete them. Edelbrocks flow good, are ready to bolt on and cheaper than you could buy complete aluminum hemi heads at that flow rating 40 years ago. God I love it.

yes, they do look good for the price. they do have the edelbrock logo on them, so as long as that isn't an issue.

and whoever designed their logo needs to take a quick look at an elephant. it looks like a cross between an elephant and a cow!

I have Stage V prepped by Tim at FHO. for my 572. Cheaper and Hemi don't work together.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

i agree, but i don't know that the edelbrock heads fall into the category of cheaper, meaning quality. innocent until proven guilty, i have to assume they will be of the quality of the rest of the heads they make, and so would work fine for the intended application.

i, on the other hand, won't be one to find that out personally!

Just ordered a set of Indy Hi-Po Hemi heads for my all aluminum 605...AKA Canfield heads with full port & polish $3400...Should flow 440-480 cfm....I will have them flowed locally so I know what they actually come in at...Indy bought out Canfield when they folded.

My old 426-1 heads with me porting them went from 363 to 400cfm and there was more left in them, but the intake valve was the limiting factor. These new heads will have the 2.40 valves....

I have heard of issues bolting the eddy heads on and really didn't like the flow numbers I saw.

The Stage V heads I got quotes for were double the price and did flow more, but mine is a street car, and you can go crazy $$$ with a Hemi if your not careful....

It's hard to imagine a higher quality casting than what Eric puts out.

Randy; let me know what they actually flow. Are the valve angles stock or have they rotated the valves a bit?Dave

I bought the bare castings from FHO and sent them to Modern Cylinder head. I got the heads, block, and CP pistons from Tim, years ago, so the price would not reflect what you would pay for them today.
Note, that the valves are std. size.

From what I've seen so far, the Stage V is about 2k more than Edelbrock and flows about the same?

Dave,

It will probably be a month or so, I went thru BGR and not direct, so most of the parts should be on order, then I need to finish paying for it all and go get them...But yes, I will post flow numbers...He had a set there, and I liked them. They are far lighter than my 426-1 heads and will make the engine 1" narrower over the larger 426-1 heads. I will also be able to run T&D rockers if I so choose...

2K more? I just bought stage V's. Edelbrock castings are $1940 from Summit, Stage V castings were $2100.

Which ever way you ask about the steam holes in the deck. I think Edelbrock and Stage V come with them, I don't think Indy does. I don't think Indy blocks have the steam holes either. MP blocks do and KB does but they move them so they do not interfere with the sleeve flange. Stage V will put the holes in the right spot for a KB block if you tell them when ordered.

The trick is to get Stage V to answer their phone.
