61was last year for 8 bolt cranks as they used cast iron trannys. The mounts from Imp wont work if I remember correctly. You will need 66 mounts.Tranny from 66 up will bolt up splines changed in 66 or 67 I believe as 65 was last year for cable and rear pump.Lots easier to use a say 69 up trans as less problems.Rocky

I have a later big block 727 that I will trade for the 65 transmission if you need one.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

65 Tranny is hard to find, I would sell it to someone who wants it and get a 66 and up 727.
If he has a 727 in it already and not a 904 he needs a big block 727 and a radiator. Other than that its pretty much a bolt in, may have to modify his engine harness to lengthen the coil power wire but thats about it. He will re-use the same driveshaft because he still has a 727.
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

ALSO, the '65 727 is a one year transmission that uses the pushbuttons and has a regular output, not the ball-and-trunion. For that reason, the '65 transmission has value to someone who wants to keep the pushbuttons while getting rid of the ball and trunnion joint. In other words, don't throw it away!

Don't get too excited on the trans... I'm sure the Imperial may have a two-piece driveshaft. They didn't have a slip style yoke, but a bolt on part that mounts with a nut on end of trans, that accepts a universal joint. You can use one to replace a B+T joint, and have a slip type driveshaft made. It uses the smaller size u-joint.

I put a 65 413 in a challenger I had, 6 bolt flange and really no different than swapping in a 440, which has been done a million times

Right, the engine with a later 727 is no issue. The 65 trans is still cable shift, even though they have column type shift lever. That's the issue, doesn't have slip style yoke.
