I hear you can run a 15x 10 inch rim on the rear of a 72 road runner with 5 1/2 inch backspace but then a 275-60/15 tire is the best choice...Anyone have pics or experience with this size??

Here is my cars 15 minutes of fame...She turned 25K orig miles on the way home..

1972 Road Runner / GTX 440 4spd Dana 3.54 Just about to turn 26K original miles..

A boat, a GMC truck, some Craftsman Tools, LOTS of Zombie Protection, and a few Goldfish..

If you love someone set them free..
If they come back it means nobody else wanted them either..!!

Why go all the way to a 10" rim to only run a 275/60/15? You can squeeze way bigger tire back there.

This is what I have and I feel the tire looks too small on the car

You suggesting the 295-50/15???
The 275 is taller...fills up the wheel well better IMO..The 295 is wider but you can see the top of the tire in the wheel well

Neither.

Use a Mickey Thompson 28/12/15 Sportsman S/R (Street Radial).

My next set will be a BFG silvertown 285/70 15 -around 30" tall.About 200 each from summit.
I looked at the 295/50s and found them too short looking for the big "B" wells.
IMHO

295 65 15s fit on mine but I cannot recall my back space right now.

'71 Charger, M/T ET Street P315-60-R15 DragRadials.

In fitting bigger tires, the first problem I encountered was the Leaf Springs. The Wheel Wells were large enough to support wider, but the wheels/tires would hit the springs.

Offset spring hangers might gain enough extra clearance.

To solve it on mine, the Leaf Springs were relocated into the Frame Rails and the Dana 60 was slightly narrowed, but the Wheel Wells are unaltered. I did need to roll-in the inner fender lip a bit at the top of the arch in the opening.
