hello, I'm assembling a 71 Cuda 340 car with power brakes. I have two questions :
1. What color was the booster?
2. What color was the master cylinder?
anybody got any good reference pictures?

10/70 build date if that helps

Dave, while I've seen 71s with the painted black Bendix booster used on the 70's, I'm more inclined to say that more 71's came with the gold cadmium Midland Ross booster and bare master and lid. Have some pics on my computer. That's not to say for certain the black booster and master is wrong (I'm not 100%)but more 71's I have looked at to document for myself came with the MR cad booster and 3461187 bare mc. My booster was the MR...but previous owner painted it black...along with entire engine compartment.

My '71 challenger with a 10/70 SBD has a black painted booster and master cylinder, but the car was restored prior to my buying it and I'm convinced those are wrong. I believe my car should have a plated Midland Ross like shown above, and my master cylinder is the correct one but I think it should be gray phosphate coated not painted black. That gray phosphate looks a little like bare cast iron but isn't, it's coated.

71 E could have either the larger black Bendix booster or the gold Midland Ross.

Dave what are your future intentions with this car. If you are going to put a Hemi in it then use the Hemi only brake parts now. Might save time and money in the long run.

Early cars had the black painted assembly (master and booster) up to at least the end of January 1971 and later cars got the gold booster and unpainted master.
