Good Evening All
Happy Thanksgiving

I have a '68 Coronet (Superbee) that was built in St Louis.

As I'm sprucing up the trunk area, I would like to replace the trunk mat. The current piece is an ill fitting piece of glorified oil cloth.

Is there a particular pattern/color that was used in '68? Did the different assembly plants use a particular pattern/color?

Thanks to all who respond.

I call the 2 patterns Herringbone and Plaid. Of my St Louis-built Roadrunners, my early (9/29/67) Roadrunner had Herringbone, as did my later '68. My '69s had Plaid.
Wouldn't surprise me if other cars differ, as I'm not sure of there were 2 suppliers of different patterns or if it's a date thing.
Some also seemed more grey or more tan.
Hope that helps.

I have a St. Louis built 68 Coronet with an SPD 6/23/68. It came with the houndstooth pattern trunk mat.

Back at that time. The St. Louis Plant was state of the art. That was the most modernized plant.

I recommend a trunk may from ACC (Auto Custom Carpet). I would stay away from REM. You can get ACC from Dante's but specify that you want ACC

Why? Please explain the differences you found
Thanks Ron

They are the best weight, pattern and fit when compared to the originals that I use for templates. This is one in my RR. I re-trimmed it to match my original template but the Dodge B-Body mats are trimmed pretty close to the same. Trust me, the repro mats can be awful and ACC has the closest to the OE configuration that you can find.

Here's the org mat in my 5/21/68 spd 6/9/68 delivered .St Louis built R.R. And Dodge and Plymouth mats are different. In length as the Coronets tail panel extends more than a rr trunk gutter. I also have had a few 68's from 1/68 to the 5/21 I have now, all had this pattern pad

Good Afternoon

As an update, I purchased two trunk mats from Dantes.(Great customer service and fast shipping).

I purchased two mats; One for the Coronet and another for a 1964 Dart. I asked him about the REM low buck mats. He told me that REM makes two grades of mats, one being the cheap vinyl and the other a heavier rubber (more like the originals). ACC does not produce the mats for the '64.

I am very satisfied with the fit and quality of the BETTER REM mat.
