1969 RR With manual brakes , how does the push rod that hooks to brake paddle come off the plunger that goes into the master cyl.? I took a Alan bolt off the cyc part of the plunger but can not get the plunger off the push rod !!

There is a O ring inside the master the rod goes into.They can be a bear.You can put the rod end in a vice and smack the plunger off.Make sure the new master has the Oring or a piece of vacuum hose so the rod cant fall off.Rocky

Thanks I have the rod and plunger out and put it in a vice and just smack it off the plunger!! Now I will be buying a new Master will this plunger be in the new one ?? and just insert the rod into the new plunger

I'm assuming you are replacing the MC. FYI next time leave the allen bolt in the MC rear flange holding the piston in place, in there & clamp the MC in your vice & slip a rod thru the end of the pushrod & hit the rod with a hammer at a straight angle close to the eyelet to drive/pull the other end of the pushrod straight back out of the MC piston. If your hyd floor jack has a hole in the plate/correct dimentions to set the MC/pushrod verticaldown into it then slip a rod under the jack horizontle thru the eyelet then jack it up (the even pressure works much better) to seperate em
