I checked them out at SEMA...Definitely different for sure. Looks to me like they just over complicated something that was not broken.

Oh yeah also checked out the new line of Dominator style Chinese carbs that will no doubt hit the market soon too.

It's a laudable engineering exercise, but I'll believe the horsepower/torque increase claims when I see independent back-to-back dyno testing against a properly tuned conventional style carb.

Agreed............although my friend picked up 3 mph and almost .3 in et from my mods on his Proform 850 so how much hp is that? Went from 12.03 @ 109 to 11.75 @ 112 ....

Thumper- How heavy is the car?

I`m guessing 3300-3400 w/driver but not sure. Full interior all steel except for hood 67-69 barracuda.........

If the car weighed 3350 at
109mph is 338.59hp
112mph is 367.33hp
That's a 28.74hp increase. Nice Job!!!!!

That`s cool and he kept adding jet and it kept picking up so it`s not fine tuned yet and he`s getting a WB so we can dial it in better............

That's a great job! Keep giving it fuel till it stops mile per houring. You know that already. The WB should help keep things from going the bad way.
Never the less, great job! Keep up the good work
If I can ever get Murphy back up and going, she's been testing my patients for a while now.

Anyways,... I'll probably be talking you ear off about carb stuff

He`s doin an engine change so the new combo will be smaller 408 to 360 but will have better heads and more compression so we`ll soon see............ Call me now if u`d like...........760-900-3895..........

72 Dart 470 n/a BB stroker street car `THUMPER`...Check me out on FB Dominic Thumper for videos and lots of carb pics......760-900-3895.....

For some reason........I just don't see that being around for very long............LOL!!!

In these days of EFI and efficiency, why invest that kind of money, with that kind of price tag, on a carb. Even the best carb in the world has a junk fuel curve as compared to EFI. It is nothing but a semi-controlled fuel leak and at times will do exactly what you don't want it to.

For that kind of money, I'd go EFI instead.

It looks to have just as many adjustments to get you really screwed up like EFI does too

I agree, that's a lot of cake for an out of the box carb

EFI is intimidating to many.........but the thing you have to remember, it only does what you TELL it to do. Fuel is fuel and it takes a certain amount to make a certain power, depending on your BSFC. So if you have dyno sheets with fuel numbers from your carbs, building a fuel map for EFI is pretty damn easy............Plus many of the current ECUs have a "self learn" feature that you simply turn on, drive the car and it will adjust the fuel map for you. I use this feature all the time, even on race cars. I get the car to crank and idle, then take if for a little drive. My neighbors are used to seeing Pro-nitrous cars and the like driving down the street.........LOL!!! This is the easiest way to get a little drivability and THEN you work on getting it on the brake and that type stuff. An EFI car is NEVER over carbed, or getting TOO MUCH air, or has slow air speed. It uses what it NEEDS to go with the volume of fuel you have. So essentially ALL you are tuning is the fuel volume, which in the big picture is easier than a carb, with air bleeds, emulsion jets, main jets, etc and relies on air speed through it to meter all that.

$2595??

To quote Michael Caine..."Excuse me while I fall down Laughing!!"

I was thinking no more than an SV1

BTW, Say a prayer for Patrick James at Pro Systems, he was in a pretty serious car wreck a little while back but he is recovering comfortably.

I agree Monte! My comment was more on the smart a## side
But were I was coming from mainly is-- there ARE adjustments and worse yet knob to turn. Guys can't leave that stuff alone!
Then pretty soon you will hear "that pos EFI or Carb isn't worth s##t!"

I wondered why he hasn't been posting stuff for a while. I have one of his carbs.

Manual FI like the terminator & toilet bowl work better than any carb. will. But make no mistake the carb. won't be going away anytime soon!

As for the new carb. I learned my lesson in the 80's on wasting $$$ on all of that to good to be true newest, latest, greatest crap!

Do you guys think that someone will ever come up with a nitro carburetor?

I believe they did in the 1950s; Stromberg two barrels and a big drill bit for jetting
Oh, lets not forget the first fuel pump that could keep up; a pirated aircraft hand pump of some sort Garlits mounted so he could work it on the run!
I believe the top speed went from 150 mph to 180 mph with the addition of that pump
