I will be installing my 410 sb stroker into a 96 Dakota. The fuel line on it now is a 5/16, since this engine is a street engine, should I used the larger 3/8 fuel line? Also will a stock pump be sufficiant enough, and should I run a return line?

thanks

5/16/stock pump will be fine. I'd wait on adding a return line to see if you have any vapor lock problems.

Put the 3/8 line on it, especially if running a mechanical pump.

5/16 might get fuel to it, will it be in sufficient quantities to maintain optimal performance?

Want to do a fun test. Run the 3/8 line on the truck, but don't hook it up, seal both ends. Put in the 3/8 tank sender, hooked to the 5/16 line. Run it at the track. Hook the lines up to the 3/8 line and run it again.

I've had and worked on cars that were running pretty well. Swapping from a 5/16 to a 3/8 line gained in some cases up to .25 in the 1/4.

I'd keep steel line on it if it's for the street. I think 5/16" line will be fine with a stock pump for the street.
If it's a race truck...maybe.

5/16" steel line is a heck of a lot safer than 3/8" aluminum for the street. IMO
