Yes. I know of a '68 383 GTS with air.

There are a couple around, but they are NOT Chrysler factory built. A/C was NOT a factory OPTION on big-block a-bodies.

No.

The only reason I ordered my 1969 Barracuda with a 340 is because that was the biggest engine available with A/C. I really wanted the 383, but living in Houston, no way was I going to buy a new car with no A/C.

According to the 1969 Dodge Salesman's Pocket Guide for Dart at Hamtramck Historical, "H51 Air Conditioner (N.A. w/170, 273 w/3-spd., or 383.)..$343.45"

The 69 Guide for Barracuda says, "H51 Air Conditioning with Heater (NA With 383 CID Eng.)...$343.45"

Ed McBride who started the GTS Registry with Frank had a 69 GTS 383 4-speed convertible that used all the factory parts and the A/C looked like it was there from new, but no, there are no factory A/C big block A-Body's.

None, REALLY? I could have sworn it was on the fender tag on that '68. I will have to go see if I can check it out again...

Could be. If I get a chance to check it out again I'll look closely at the tag for sure.

The 1968 Salesman's Pocket Guides for Dart and Barracuda say the same as above, A/C N.A. with 383.

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library-2.shtml

Maybe the reason for no A/C available with 383 is lack of hood clearance for the compressor, if the BB engine sits higher than the small block?

The space between the hoods and the compressors on 68/69 Barracuda/Dart 340 is tight, and the compressors are about the same elevation as the radiators but higher than the air cleaners.

This photo is a 69 GTS 340 with factory air. It would have been more obvious if the camera were a bit lower, but the top of the compressor is higher than the air cleaner.
