There have been several threads on this subject lately. I believe the best out-of-the-box street carbs today are the new Street Demons. If the car will see more street duty, the 625 would be the better choice.

I agree that a 750 would be the largest carb for it. The 383's I've messed with did not like big carbs like a 440 does. I had a mild 383 w/ big valve 906s, 9.5:1 compression, MP 484/284 cam...it ran WAYYY better w/ a 750 than it did when I tried my 830 holley DP on it.
CHIP '70 hemicuda, 575" Hemi, 727, Dana 60 '69 road runner, 440-6, 18 spline 4 speed, Dana 60 '71 Demon, 340, low gear 904, 8.75 '73 Chrysler New Yorker, 440, 727, 8.75 '90 Chevy 454SS Silverado, 476" BBC, TH400, 14 bolt '06 GMC 2500HD LBZ Duramax

The 800 is a bit large for the engine. 750 would be my max size for it. You did get the tuning kit for the carb right? You also did not give a wholeot of info on the engine. What exact cam? Headers? Etc...
Depending on what your trying to do& have in the engine and the cars set up, converter, rear gear, tire size, etc.... You may even be able to use a smaller 650!
The cam 475/494 Voodoo with Hp manifolds,DP4B intake, 323 gears with a 2800 stall. Motor is 30 over with block decked and the heads shaved on it. Has KB pistons and is suppose to be about 9.3-1 on compression. It is an auto. I did get the tuning kit but I think I will be better off getting another carb. I don't remember the back tires they are big 15" ones that would fit the car. I just have never had good luck out of the edlebrocks. Ronnie
