I just bought a 69 R/T, 440 auto with a factory 4.10 Dana. Should the drive shaft have a weight ring on the tranny end or not? I've seen them on earlier cars, but not a 69. It has a SPD of 9-24.

A lot happens in 45 years, but I've seen a large number of '69 b-bodies with the inertia ring. Locally there is a loaded numbers matching LA built '69 RR 383/4-spd/3.55s/buckets/console/N96 complete car in need of restoration has an inertia ring.

What's the purpose of the ring? Does it have rubber in it?

Thanks, guys. I was pretty sure it was original to the car.

Here is info from the '69 FSM. Not a lot of explanation. Basically says there are 4 types of driveshafts and "certain applications" use an inertia ring.

Don't know for sure, but don't think there is rubber in it.
