I would go for the cop car wheels with the vented poverty caps for 2 reasons (1) your '84 truck has the 5 on 4.5" bolt circle and the later wheels would require later rotors in front and later replacement axle shafts and drums in back to go with the 5 on 5.5" pattern (2) painted wheels are so easy to maintain and subtle. I had a set on my '74 D100 (traded that to my oldest son and he lost it in a divorce) I went the other way with my '86 Ramcharger (early rotors and custom axles) to get the CenterLine Warriors to fit. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif)

Sorry I didn't respond sooner Roe, been a busy week. I had to have the hubs machined a little ($20) and I did use spacers. These wheels have a weird offset that when you put them on the 1st Gens the wheels are too far into the wheel wells. I will be lowering this truck a little by using the van lower control arms conversion and flipping the rear leaf spring mounts and I plan on putting some 16" Torque Thrusts on it. I have a buddy with the late model Ram 20" wheels that they use on the Hemis (his is a 360) and I think if you could get those to fit they would look pretty good on a 4x4. I think those are some of the best looking factory wheels ever produced. I don't know if you know it but a lot of Ford wheels fit these too and I have seen some pretty good looking rigs with the Ford wheels that look like Centerlines. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beer.gif)

Or these with the same center cap as above. I know this one is dirty but they do clean up nice.
I have mechanical Aptitude. I can screw up anything.

Do you have a pic of the rims you're talking about? And how thick was your spacer and did you have to use longer studs?
Here is a couple pictures Roe, hopefully you can see what I am talking about but its hard to get things across in a 2 dimensional photo. The centers of the wheels had to be machined about 1/16th of an inch or so and you can see it in the first picture though the semi-roughness gets covered by the center cap.
I did put slightly longer studs on it because I had a couple broken studs and replaced them all anyway and I think I would go that route regardless, the origional studs were just a tad too short for my liking though you could get the lug nuts threaded on them.
I dont know if you can see it in the pictures but the spacers look to me to be about an inch but I just don't remember. One of my neighbors runs a tire shop out of his shop and he measured it all out for me and ordered them but that was about 5 years ago.
To me the wheels and tires look way to big and I don't like them not to mention the speedo needs to be recalibrated. I want to eventually go to 15" Torque Thrusts in a classic spoked pattern like the old Cragar SS.
