Hi, new member here.

I have a modified 8 3/4 axle housing and use green bearings on the axles. The housing ends have been pretty heavily scored by the POs when removing the OEM bearings. I've been plagued by seeping and have used a number of techniques to keep the seep down. I'm at a point of either replacing the ends or finding a sleeve.

Obviously, finding a sleeve would be the least expensive and troublesome.

Question is, does anyone have a line on housing end sleeves?

Thanks in advance.

Not 100% sure but this might be the time you think about looking for a new housing!!

you can get new ends from DR Diff here on the board or moser enginering

you have the o-ring around the green bearings correct?

have you tried a little RTV on the ends?

do you still have the inner seals in the axle tube

I had mine weep oil with out the innner seals,I installed some stock innner seals and fixed the leak

some do some dont run the inner seals with the greens

I will from now on

Are meaning that it is leaking past the green bearing O'rings?? If so use the OEM type axle seals in cunjunction with the green bearings. That is recommended by a lot any way.

If its seeping gear oil your axle seals have failed.

Thanks guys. I still use the inner seals and yes the green bearings have the 'O' ring. I've packed the dickens out of the end caps with RTV but they still leak.

I'm trying to avoid replacing the ends as it isn't a inexpensive proposition. I already have a set of ends if I have no other alternative. I'm really hoping to find some sleeves.

Already considered that. The spring perches and shock mounts have been changed and relocated. Don't want to have to do that again.

mine were new ends and the housing was shortend by moser

if you have the stock inner seals and its seeping..they have failed

if the axle has been in and out a few times they are most likly to be cut/torn/spring off the back side ect.

the ends will need to be welded on and a jig used to keep it straight to be done right

I dont think they have a sleeve for this, the end would have to be over sized to allow the sleeve to fit between the bearing and housing end

a least I have not read/heard of one for it

OH! and welcome new member

what ya got and what ya workin on?

got pics to share

Inner seals have been replaced several times.

Yes I know about the jig which is where the expense comes in.

I've used some .001 shim stock around the greens to help compensate for the wear in the ends.

The changes I've made.
Perches and shock mounts welded on.

My favorite, an oil drain bung. It's a lot harder changing the oil in one of these.

I'm wondering if the seals we circle burners use to keep the oil from sloshing out to the ends in the turns would help you. they go in the housing just outboard of the 3rd member. Speedway motors has them ~ $50 ea.

Who is this DR Diff? I couldn't find a user name or vendor with that spelling.

How do his end caps differ from Mosers?

Thanks
