I now have seven 71-2 B's and all have the hinge on the left. Have had several other 71-2 B's with the same hinge. I need to check all my 73-4 B's and see when they changed to the one on the right. I think sometime mid 73.

Ok I was laying in bed last night thinking about this as something did not seem right in my head. So I checked my cars this morning and man was I wrong.
All my 71-2 B's including my 71 RR built 10/70 have the one on the right with teeth. All my 72's have teeth. All my 73-4 B's including an early built 73 have the one on the left without teeth. I should sleep better tonight.

Correct.. one other thing you'll find is that sometime in '72 (late I believe), they started using the base part that has slot cutouts. The base with slot cutouts are used on the '73-74 style hinges.

Thanks, Mark & Rick. Mark, I did not intend for you to loose sleep over this but I appreciate it. Other than correctness does one hinge any advantage over the other?

Loosing sleep is my fault. Not sure if one is better than the other. Rick may know. Do know that there are different springs though. Charger and Plymouth Air Grabber hoods take a heaver spring than Plymouth non-a/g hoods..

'71-72 vs.'73-74 type- The '73-74 design have a longer service life. The '71-72 get sloppy sooner from the teeth wearing. Both will get pin wear too, of course.
