Damn. All this after I just got a new converter this year. How will a "built" 727 handle 900-1000 HP? And I'm kinda doubting anyone makes a way to bolt a TH400 to a new Hemi??
I think ATI makes a bell for their new 400 case to mate to a gen 3 HEMI.
Its not that a 727 can't be built to do this......but parts are limited and expensive. But the biggest drawback to 727s and big power is the lack of converter choices

Had a 727 when I was running 8.3's at 3600 lbs, wouldn't hold on the brake spooling when I tried to launch under lots of boost and was on borrowed time at that hp level. Sold it before it came apart while it was still worth money and went to an extreme automatics TH400. Best money ever spent.
Lonnie builds a killer 400...
