Close. I think it was like a 422 with 360-1 heads. Heads, cam and motor spec'd ported and bult by ShadyDell. He won his class, I think small block no power adder and ran some 9.80s maybe even a 9.70 on Hoosier drag redials. Here are a few pictures.

The Ogle brothers ran a few minutes after Robert in Daily Driver. Ole Fratzog jumped out of the hole in his familiar Gold Challenger, then seemed to stall, or his foot slipped off the pedal. He recovered to a 12.77, but with a booming 120mph at the stripe. I was really looking forward to watching his brother's 73 Cuda this year, and he happened to be matched up with Clark, and his blue barracuda, so I crowded up in the lanes for a better vantage point. It was over way too soon as the big block broke something in between the 1-2 shift of the four speed, and Jason expertly pulled the yellow E-body over to the wall, while Clark went 11.73-115.3 and called it good for the day.

Rachael got her first attempt of 2014 Drag Week at 1:19 pm, and ran a 12.34-110. This did not leave me all warm and fuzzy inside. A few minutes later John ran an 11.19-118 in the 67 Valiant, and was ready to load up for Topeka. Boone and Dad left in the Barnyard Viper to go check on Darren and Dale, then get home to pack up the trailer, which he would pull for the trip. I sent Rachael and the Belvedere back around for another pass, and thirty minutes later she rewarded me with a 12.53-112.6. Both passes had high 1.90 60 foot times, that showed me she wasn't leaving hard, and certainly wasn't hitting the N20 early enough.

Wade's Dad, Ken carded a 13.28-100.7 out of his early barracuda on the first day. I'm sure with some help from Wade, he could have coaxed a little more out of it, but apparently Wade was WAY too busy admiring a certain green Demon!

Rachael's third attempt came fifteen minutes later than her second, and while it wasn't in the elevens, I felt compelled to just take it, and move on. She had a 1.82 60, and went 12.067-112.3. As we loaded up to head to Dale's house, Jason drove by with his Cuda on the trailer, headed back to the impound yard, not a fun sight on Monday afternoon.

The Bowyer family had spent Monday at the track, but weren't following the circuit, so we said our goodbyes and loaded up.
"Well, at least we won't starve on this trip!" Rachael commented as we jumped in our respective rides.
"What do you mean?"
"Steve's sisters gave me two fifty dollar gift cards to McDonalds!"
Last year when we had brought Steve's rig back to Arizona, Joyce had questioned me several times about how much they owed us for diesel, and I had told her this was just what Drag Weekers do for each other. This year, it appeared, she was treating us in kind.

We left Tulsa Raceway Park, and returned to Dale's back yard. Drag Week faded once again, and Thrash Week moved into the forefront. Rachael, John and I drove up into the far corner where we were storing our stuff and parked. James had the Gremlin back on the pad in front of the shop, on jack stands, and had the welder pulled out beside it. Sam Barker had also made the trip over, and was helping him with the ladder bar.

Opal, John, and his parents were arranging everything for their trip, sorting through what to take, and what to leave behind. John's mom and dad were going to follow the show in their mini-van, but they were also on an extended vacation which would include stops in Indiana, New York, and other points east, so obviously they didn't need to carry everything they had brought from Tucson. Once John felt comfortable that they were ready, he walked over to me, "Well, I think we are ready to roll, would you and Rachael like to go ahead with us?"
"Actually, I'd love to", I smiled, and shook my head, "But I better hang out here and see how this plays out!"
Robert had followed us over as well, and had his Ram parked out front, "I think I'm going to go with John", he decided, "do we need to go back to the track to catch this route?"
Dad explained to them that if they took a certain curvy, narrow, undulating, barely asphalted back road, It would bring them back to the course in around six miles, and they headed off on their adventure.

Don't feel bad Rachel, we've all done worse stuff than that. But that is hilarious!

Yeah, I've also seen way worse, but it's still funny. Crap happens. Loving this thread...I have it bookmarked and read it every day.

I will post mine. How about first time w/Trans Brake staring at the Green Light wondering why the car hasn't moved yet.

Then, "It's just a 410 W-2" is what you get told when you are squaring off in the lanes! Gotta love street car guys!

James and Sam were pretty much done with the Gremlin by the time Boone showed up in the Barnyard Viper, I had sent Rachael after ice and more drinks, so we could split up the coolers for each vehicle.
"Where's Darren?" I shot out to him as he walked towards the Gremlin.
"Still at the muffler shop, he should be along in a bit", he shrugged his shoulders, "where's Dale?"
"Parts store, I think".
"I better call him, Darren's going to need a new water pump".
"Great, we are never going to get out of here!" I removed my hat and scratched my head, then pushed my hair back, "Mom didn't cut our hair this year."
"Yeah", he laughed, "and we needed it!"

We were gathering stuff to load into the trailer when Darren finally showed up. He climbed out of the Dakota, and addressed Boone straightaway, "I thought I heard something driving to the muffler shop, but with mufflers on, it's unmistakable, those 5.13 gears are toast!"
"How can you hear that with all that awful howling coming from the engine?" I interrupted.
"It's a gear drive, Dave, isn't it cool?"
"No, not cool...so, the third member is broke, that HAS to be the final straw, right?"
