My lock cylinder on 70 Challenger is damaged(can turn 'ears' back and forth with no key inserted in it). This occurred from trying to force too tight faulty ignition switch into Acc position. Yes key was in lock,,,could go to lock position but not Acc.

I have seen cylinder locks listed for sale that specify 1970 Cuda, but do not say Challenger. I would guess that they should be the same,,,however are they?

Except for the brushed finish on 70 and early 71 cars I believe all 70 and 71 column lock cylinders are the same on all Chrylser products without tilt column, possibly some difference in C-bodies, but I think all A, B, and E are the same. The 70 and 71 cylinders have a spring loaded ring around about half the diameter that holds them in the casting, the 72 and up have a pin about 3/16 in diameter to do this. If you think your column may have been changed you may want to take it apart before buying a new cylinder.

The ebody door lock cylinders are technically by themselves because of the pawl on the back which attaches to the lock rod. If you have your old pawls you can swap them onto the new cylinders.

Thank you.

Car is also missing steering lock lever and spring. Does have the round disc where lever pawl fall into. Is this lever, spring and any other parts I need, available as a replacement kit? Or as separate parts.

70 ebodies did not have the lever to remove the key as on 71 and up. 70's had linkage that interlocks with the transmission. If there were engine/trans swaps most times this is just wired up and by passed.

Sounds like to me the ears, as you call it, have been forced and the tabs of the brushed part that are bent over on the portion that contains all the keyed mechanism have become loose and out of sync. sometimes you can bend them back. 70 e body is different late 71 up, like he said.

I was referring to the lever/spring mechanism that locks the steering wheel from turning when in switch is in "lock key removal mode". There is an internal lever/spring assembly that interfaces with so called lock plate. I am missing that lever/spring assembly and do not know where to find it.
