i have a 727 and a 1350 after market yoke in my car I will go out in the garage see how fare mine goes in ill get back to you

sweet!I think my axle/spring windup has caused binding in the rear joint and caused the twist in the yoke.Sounds correct anyways.LOL

my yoke is 4 7/8 long it went all the way in
your cars drive shaft might have never went all the in and with all that horse power and torque and heavy car it twisted it how it wont go in

Well it did go in all the way but I shimmed the spring hanger back 1" for bigger tires and it would bottom out to install earlier.I was confused because I knew I moved the axle back 1" so I knew it should slip on more.Now I know.
PS: The splines on the trans are only 4" so no need to have it slip on more because if it twists it wont come off.

Your current shaft appears to actually be to short IMO based on the wear pattern on your yoke and also knowing how much more useable Depth your car wasnt using in the first place. That probably also helped lead to twisted splines, along with your past axel bind up from rotation.

I know!LOL Now I gotta make it longer. I think using a good yoke I can use the shaft I have with the 3" of spline it slides on.

With the slop in the splines I wouldnt call it good
with that much out... sorry but your gonna need a
new shaft..... the more its out the more the yoke
and drive shaft can be off center... but its your
ride.. its up to you

With the slop in the splines I wouldnt call it good

I tried to read it but it didn't say if you had the clavert mono springs as well? As mine could come apart and there were holes to move the rear a inch.

If so you might look into that aspect.

I have had the yoke spline problem a few times . Spicer 1350 yokes. Actually had to beat them off the transmission with a BFH. As yours they would slip on easily then jam up. Visually looking into the yoke I couldn't see any twist or burr. New yoke slipped on all the way smoothly, till the next time of disassembly. Also I use the 3/4 -1" out from the end of the tail shaft.


it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Right now all your spline engagement is at the snout of the yoke, furthest out. Id like to see it closer to the u-joint. 3" of engagement at the end of the snout is much different then 3" of engagement deeper into the yoke.

Your 6.5" yoke depth cant be correct, from your measurement pics, that depth would be a inch into your Ujoint.

You have gotten by 6 years or so with the current setup. But it has twisted your yoke splines from not being ideal.

In those 6 years how many passes? 6 like Thumper Just kidding Mike/Thump

IMO, you know its not the best setup. Nows a good time to fix it for good. Or it could last another 6 years.

As already stated, 1" max, IMO from the yoke bottoming out from the trans. It looks like your 3",s out from that.

I say do it now Mike By the way, I like Custom Clutch and joint. They did my driveshaft down here in canton, for like $125 complete. I supplied the ends.

The depth is 5.25" not 6.5" as you noticed. The splines will ingage 3.250" with the length it is now so with a 1" from bottom I am 1" short to be more clear.just for conversation sake the load on the yoke/joint will come from drive shaft angle change on the rear.correct?
