Could someone please post a photo of what the second plunger switch - the one by the stricker - is suppose to look like. I believe the plunger on this switch is white plastic. Thanks.

Here is a picture of the switch without the plunger. The original plungers on my 71 Gran Coupe were white. The plungers have cracked and they no longer stay on.

I have the plunger and will take a picture of it when my camera battery charges. It is white plastic with MB molded in the end.

I need X 2. Never seen one in person. Oh, and why were they plastic?

All I can say is good luck finding them and if you find more than you need I would be interested in at least two of them. I have been looking for the last 20 years, only seriously for about the last 5, for NOS ones.

I don't know why they were plastic for sure. I would have to study the switch a little bit more to see if it was for electrical isolation or just a manufacturing choice.

Interestingly enough I had the chance to look at 3900 original mile 70 Cuda 440 Six pack car last week. It had the overhead console option and the plungers were off this car also. The owner felt that the plungers were never on as there were no marks on the door. He was lucky enough to have a friend that had two of these switches. When I get a chance I'm going to inspect the door jambs of my Gran Coupe to see if there are marks. I suspect the plastic may have been soft enough that it didn't leave marks but I am curious.

i have a 71 cuda grand coupe with the same thing. only my plungers were black.
this is something i found from GM parts. i think they are from a 80's astro van. you would have to bend the tabs at 90* but they might work. the GM part # is 15674628.
the plunger is dark gray and is plastic.

Good info and better than using the metal plunger for sure... A metal switch will take the paint off the door quick... ...I have what's left of my originals{white switches} and the special plastic guards but have'nt found NOS replacements either...

I've purchased a set, but the plungers are black plastic instead of white; otherwise they look very close. I'm still sorting out what I'm going to do from here.

I bet that car was blue, and sitting with some of its sister cuda's and listening to country music...
