I wish Chrysler would submit all the specs for the production Challengers. It took them several years to get the 5.7L and 6.1L engines in the Classification Guide for the non-DP Challengers. I think they could put the V6s in there in case someone wants to run lower classes.

As for the Hellcat, SS/AAA has a weight break of 5.0 pounds per HP. That would make the car weigh 3535 pounds. I bet that the production Hellcat Challenger can get down to that weight. I'm not sure there is value in putting that engine in the DP.

Rick, I've seen your posts on Classracer and seem to remember you are a long time Stock or SS racer, so I will go with your opinion. There was a Ford Cobra in the Classification Guides for years at 4.XX pounds per HP. Until they added the new weight breaks, it never had a place to race. If they put a Hellcat in a DP, where does it fit. They still have to get down to the minimum weight for SS/AAA. Is there an advantage of the DP over the non-DP Challengers with the same weight and engine combo? I think both can run the same rear axle and suspension. Maybe the non-DP has to run the 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic. I did see where one of the Moosetangs ran a 7.9x run at Indy. I can't remember if that was Stock or SS. Got to be quicker than that then.

68Shifter, where did you see that engine? Where can i get the valve covers? What supercharger is that?

It's sitting at the Mopar booth here at Indy. Right behind the DP car. I saw it yesterday but they wouldn't take the cover off.

Whipple charger and who knows on the covers. It has several one off pieces on it. The guys around it don't know much. Probably a good job on mopar to stir the pot.

They did! Before Indy they were allowed to run a bigger throttle body, larger valves and a bigger cam. Of course that is nothing new for NHRA. Just like it was in the past and is also now in pro-stock bike (HD's getting more displacement, etc than the Suzuki's).

In any event, I wasn't disappointed to see Connolly get beat in the final of FS/B on Saturday at Chevrolet's sponsored event!!!!

When this car and motor combo were unveiled Thursday night at Indy they stated they would build 50 2015 models. Some will be NA and some blown.

I asked if the Blown parts were going to be available for those of us who wanted to build cars and motors and the comment was yes.

The valve covers are billet pcs which are not quite available yet.

The Hellcat motor will be built at 354 cubic inches. It has to stay in line with the Ford and Chevys. The HP factor has not been agreed upon between NHRA and Chrysler. Nor has the shipping weight.

They plan on buildingn them this fall.

Lastly the Hellcat in its racing version will vary from the production / street version.
