I have a 70 challenger convertible. when I bought it the interior panels were spray painted black they are originally white. The paint is slightly peeling off does anyone know a good way of removing the black paint without destroying the panel. I want to restore them back to the white panels. Thanks. Mike

Thanks for all the good ideas. I will start with the power washer and move on from there, as the paint is flaking already.

When getting off the subject of E-body door panels and stripping plastic parts of paint etc. you MUST keep in mind that all plastics are not created equally! We have ABS, Styrene, PVC, Polypropylene, Nylon, Butyrate, etc. in these cars and all are affected differently by various chemicals.

Some are virtually indestructible by chemicals (Polyethylene/Polypropylene) while others like Styrene will melt quite easily even from some of the milder chemicals.

So, you need to correctly identify the plastic material the part is made of before applying any chemicals.

I don't know how I got along without one for as long as I did. Big initial investment but over time they can save you a lot of money in time savings (works MUCH faster and cleans better than most chemicals), materials costs (no need for a bunch of expensive harsh chemicals), and gentile parts cleaning without undue damage (doesn't harm most surfaces).

To add to ScottSmith about using chemicals on plastics or for that matter any material as they say always test on a small spot or area that won't show or do too much damage first.

Testing is a must. I've used 'easy off' (the old style)oven spray for stripping paint off model cars, works great. But as said, check on the back first!
