I'm pretty sure it will all get worked out as you can see nothing is changed for the Big Race this weekend or the rest of the season. It looks like the IRS is more than Happy to keep it open and run it themselves. As it is within a 1 1/2-2 hour drive for me to race there, just run my new Street Calloway Corvette there a little over a month ago I have heard all the rumors. But I will wisely not repeat any of them till I know what is True and what is nothing but a Rumor.

From what I read was the owner was collecting sales tax from you and I and not turning over to the state. And then deducting state payroll taxes from there employees and not turning it over to the state.

That's stealing, I would not support any track owners like that.

Of all the rumors that have been floating around, the only one I can say I agree on is something else must be going on.Who has ever heard of the Government be it State IRS or Federal just taking over a track and keep it up and running like nothings happen?

I read she wasn't turning over the sales tax revenue and the state pulled the license and they continued to operate with no license. So the state was left no choice to confiscate the property.

It's in the states best interest to keep the track open.
1. They have not got a conviction yet. If they close the track and then fail to convict the law suite would most likly be huge.
2. If the track remains open it provides jobs and a revenue source for the state.
3. It's politically the right move to make.

Unfortunately that thought never crossed the States mind. You drag racers are a bunch of neanderthal's that can't write your own name much less vote.

I was at 41 when the same thing happened. State Police came in and shut it down on a race night. Track stayed closed until the state got their money, it was open the following weekend.

About the only thing that changed was Norm III could not come on the premises anymore.

Hope they get things worked out at SGMP. $90K doesn't sound like a big pile of money for a facility like that to come up with, but it's big enough.

So, the newspapers, judges, prosecutors are all lieing...

"Kimberly Wood turned herself in at the Cook County Sheriff’s Office around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. She is being charged with one count of felony theft by taking-sales and one count of felony theft by taking-withholding.

The Cook County Superior Court has designated Albany Attorney Chris Cohilas as the court appointed receiver for the business and he will now be in charge of operations."

“This is the result of a Georgia Department of Revenue investigation that has been going on for approximately two years,” said Genesi.
“Right now, she owes $90,000 to the Department of Revenue. We tried working with Ms. Wood to bring her to compliance. However, Ms. Wood was uncooperative and, ultimately, we revoked her sales license in August.”

We all know the news media is more interested in being the first to report something than they are in all the facts.
I don't personally know the Woods, but from what I've heard alot of this had been blown out of proportion by the media and the internet (shock)
I hope it all gets worked out for everyone involved, and yep there is a 3 day race this weekend and Ducks big race in Sept. is still on.

Rowland will probably pay it off with the CSR contingency dollars he's never paid out to winning racers over the years

1. Sales tax in Ga is 7%?
2. Usually when dollar numbers are mentioned by the authorities in the press, they are as inflated and piled as much as possible
3. This investigation has been for 2 years?
4. I would guess a $90,000 liability over 2 years would with applicable fines, interest, etc, would have started around $50K?
5. If the had their sales tax license revoked a short time ago (weeks?), maybe collecting any tax there after could in the eyes of the law be considered theft, making the case for the aresst warrants?
6. "not cooperating" is the heavy hammer used to get someone to bend over with heavy legal implications if you don't do it our way, as seen.
7. $50K in sales taxes over 2 years is not a lot of sales, $700,000?
8. The track is still open and running because the state knows they have a thin bookeeping case, and its just a small shake down.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
