I ordered a leaf spring rebuild kit for my '73 cuda quite awhile ago and only now have I gotten around to working on the springs. I got this BH115 kit from YearOne. Leaf spring rebuild kit

I'm having some real issues with this kit. First, there are some plastic separator pieces that snap into the end of each spring. They seem to have shorted me on those. I need 6 per side, not 4. Second, the spring clamp forward of the axle appears to be clamping 4 leafs and the rear one clamps only 3. The spring clamps they sent me work ok for the 3 leafs, but not the 4. It seems like they really needed two different sizes of clamps, but they all are the same.

Am I crazy or is this kit messed up?

There were different parts packs for various spring applications. Sounds like you got a pack for a different application

that kit is a pile of crap. send it back.call frank b and get a real kit with zinc interleafs that are not cut out sheetmetal strips. plus there a 3 sizes of bands you need for banding the spring packs.

Oddly enough I thought the zinc interleafs looked good. I don't recall if they shorted me any of those though.

I somewhat expected that the application wasn't quite correct. The description was small block and 383/400. Guess I figured it'd fit a 340 car, but I guess I was wrong. Thanks for the help guys.

I bought mine from Frank, who gets the zinc interleaves from a board member who is in Texas. I don't know of any other correct source for those. The others are steel with a zinc finish and are obviously not correct (magnet test as mentioned).

Frank Badalson sells a kit with the plastic interliners, zinc interleaves, clamps, and more, that works for A, B and E bodies, part number LSK on page 45 of his catalog. He does sell the parts separately, if you call him. You can get just the clamps you need, for example.

Unfortunately the magnet sticks.
