Hi,
I know people who install a rear disc brake set up from a late model chrysler.

They took the set up from an Intrepid(for example), welded a bracket to the rear axle, and there they went !

Did anyone here ever did this ?
From what model did you take the caliper and rotor ?

Feel free to any suggestions
Dan

Easier to buy the setup from DoctorDiff. He has already rounded up the necessary parts for the conversion.

you can use the weld on brackets, GM metric calipers (malibu, regal, monte carlo, s-10) and front rotors from a 1993 jeep cherokee. we have put this setup on a dakota, and a d100 and it works perfectly. can do the whole job for under 100 bucks!!!

an inventive friend used the rear rotor off a town car and subaru front brake caliper with the ebrake cable attached---if you havent messed with a subaru the brake cable is very flexible-- put it anywhere you like or tie it in a knot....

Why would you not take the advice of Cass?

I'd go with what he suggested...

That's exactly what we did. Except we used 1993 jeep Cherokee front rotors. Sorry I don't have good pics. The link posted has great pictures. The brakes work so well It makes it hard to do a good burnout!!!!!

i have a set of the rear jeep rotors gave to me. they are drilled and slotted. look cool.lol all i have to get is the gm calipers, brakes and lines and i will have everything to put them on.I will be switching from 11x2 inch drum brakes to these. I will also be installing a line lock to help with burn outs.

jericoGTX said it was a 10 pound loss. I should have around 100 dollars or less when i get mine done.

We are currently doing this swap on a buddies car. For those that are interested, the swap is a 5lb per side LOSS over factory 11 inch drum brakes. Had i known it was going to be a 10lb loss and better brakes, for a cheap price, I would have made the swap years ago.

Its gonna make a difference if your a foot braker or
trans brake... a drum has better HOLDING ability
over a disc brake... but disc have a better STOPPING
ability... what do you need.. when I built my Rampage
I knew I would be foot braking so I went with 12"
drums over disc
