Anyone use Carbotech brake pads on our non ABS and heavy cars?
I have gotten a couple of different recommendations like XP12 front/ XP10 or XP8 rear.
Just wanted to see what other people use here.

Not interested in any other brand just Carbotech feedback please

Thanks!

I have CT627A XP8 (rear) and CT731 XP12 (front) on the Valiant, so far they work VERY well! Car is roughly 3200lbs

I run 8s and 10s. Not cheap but work very well.

I was able to install my front Carbotech pads yesterday. If you have Dr. Diff's Stage 4 Brembo style caliper brake kit the part number is CT968 and whatever compound you choose. I have XP12's in front and to install them you have to have zero shims whatsoever. They are a tight fit but as long as you are able to move the wheel back and forth freely you should be good.

The the rear CT627A-XP8's I was not able to install on Dr. Diff's Cobra Rear brake kit. The pads I was sent are simply too thick even with the piston fully collapsed and zero shims on the back of the pads. I am emailing Carbotech at the moment and will call them Monday for a solution.

Initial impressions from driving 30 miles and back on a freeway: they eat up rotors big time. I had street pads on previously and you could still see the cross hatching from when the rotors were brand new after about 1200 miles. The Carbotechs ate through that and now has its own distinct wear pattern after 60 miles. I have not properly bedded them yet and will do so before my track day on Sept. 20th.

Oh yeah they are loud when crawling to a stop. Be prepared to get looks from people on the street haha!

It looks like I will need the thinner CT627 pad for 2000 Cobra R's instead of the thicker CT627A pad for 94-04 Cobras.

Sounds like they sent you '94-'04 Mustang GT (thick) rear pads.

You need '94-'04 Cobra (thin) rear pads. Cobra R's use this same rear caliper/pad.

BTW, I'm still waiting for your slotted front rotors to arrive. The mfg sent me the drilled/slotted version by mistake.

Thanks Cass yeah I'm gonna need those rotors.
It still amazes me that people still want drilled rotors that just crack faster at the track.

Yeah the CT627 pads work perfect with the Dr. Diff rear brakes. They are a bit cheaper than CT627A's also
I just have to say that engineers who designed the brake pads for these Ford Cobra rear brakes never tried to install it themselves

what a pain
