I've been considering trading my 1500 Hemi Ram 4x4 in on one. I know the Jeep isn't as useful as a pickup, and comes with a lot of shortcomings, but I've had 3 postal Jeeps and a CJ-7. I can't seem to get them out of my life.

Anybody own one? Are you happy with the purchase? Would you buy one again? Any issues?

Thanks,
Nick

Hertz has them as rentals and I've gotten them from time to time when traveling for work. The 3.6 is actually pretty peppy and they drive drastically better than any older jeep. I can't give you any long term experience with them though.

I have a 2014 JK with the 3.6 and auto. The 3.6 has some decent power for what it is. I have 4k miles on mine now. It gets around 21 mpg highway and around 16 in town with 3.21 gears.

Only issues I have heard of is a head problem on 2012's and some oil leaking issues at the oil filter housing. I have not seen anything with mine yet

Thanks guys. I'd heard about the cylinder head issue on the 12's.

A friend's brother bought a '12 new, and he towed motorcycles to North Carolina with it a year ago. It got 19mpg freeway, with the 2 bikes on an open trailer, and 3 guys + gear inside. I was impressed. My Ram was hauling a little more, and the trailer I was towing was enclossed... I was getting 11-12mpg tops.

I test drove a '14 Sahara Unlimited a week ago and was surprised at how quiet it was, just some wind noise at 75mph from the windshield, and the ride really wasn't bad at all. Almost better than my Ram.

I never have anything in the bed of my truck, and for the off chance I need to haul something I think I could just buy a small utility trailer.
