Almost done with my 1970 Plymouth Satellite and have a tire/wheel question since I have new paint/body work I don't want to drive it home from the shop with my old tires on it. I'm going to go for new wheels and tires. I want 15" on it in case (once I can save more money ) I want to switch to disc brakes. I also want to fill up the front (as well as the rear) wheel wells, almost like a NASCAR look. I want street radials and white letters. What size would fit best all around? Thoughts? Thanks.

A "safe" fit would be 225/70/15 or maybe 235/70/15. "Best" fit requires some measuring for backspace and tire width. I figured it out by borrowing a test wheel and tire in desired diameter and measuring front and rear... and purchasing tires/wheels based on measurements. If you are going for same size front and rear, you may be able to fit bigger tires if that is what you want but backspace needs dialed in.

Suggest you "eat your pride" and drive it home with whatever tires you have and then borrow a 15" test wheel/tire for measurement... and order accordingly.

Thanks! Regarding, "driving home on the old tires"...it isn't about anything but the fact that the rear tires are pretty old and starting to be dry rotted. I just don't want one failing and possibly damaging all the new body work/paint. They look OK. Thanks for the information. Anybody running 10" wide tires on the front?

There are a number of threads on tire/wheel size in the handling section. Suggest you search there. With 15" tires, 7" or 8" is about the biggest you can effectively use on the front with stock sheet metal. There just is not room for the tire you would run with the wider wheel.
