many of you have probably seen my other post on spray bar oiling. This is how to pushrod oil with an indy block.

indy maxx low deck block. how do I get pressurized oil to the lifters? How does indy prep these blocks for pushrod oiling? I am getting t and d individual shaft rockers for the b1 heads and I have crane 66550-16 lifters setup to oil through the pushrod. Who runs pushrod oiling with an indy block and if you do please help me out.

Thanks, Cody

it's gotta be hard getting oil to the lifters when you only have 1 oil gallery.

It's a difficult task.. A mess, quite frankly..

That's why I stayed with the common shaft T&D's

Indy will drill the oil passages as an option when you order the block. I have seen individual lines run to each lifter bore also. With pushrod oiling oil control to the heads becomes an issue. With the correct adjusters(thru hole for pushrod oiling) the rockers you have will work fine with spray bar oiling.

Thanks guys this seems to be the only options. I had wanted to run the common shaft but with the turbo and boost I want to run the best parts which sounds like the individual shaft setup and the same goes for the spray bar setup I would feel a lot more comfortable with pushrod oiling and might even run spray bar as extra oiling. I am thinking of running individual lines to each lifter like the link shows and I have seen in go greens motor. Thanks guys

You generally can order the oil to lifters from INdy when you order the block ($250) IF they can drill it so can other people. Smith brothers makes some nice pushrods that you can use to restrict the oil going to the head. (They ain't cheap). Todd

Thanks go green for the pictures I saw some info of your setup on an older post. Would you mind sharing some info. I read you ran a .065 jet is that to each individual lifter? Also do the lifter oiling holes face the oil inlet? Last are all those 1/8 npt fittings drilled all te way to the lifter bore?

Thanks again I will probably e going this route. Should be getting my block back next week then time to start playing.

Cody

Brian at IMM did mine like Gogreen's setup. Motor has 45 passes now and all is well. B1 heads with T&D individual shaft rockers.

push rod oiling on a indy maxx block is a breeze but costly. If the block is new it think it is 250.00 to gun drill it, however if is a finished block meaning the lifter bores are finished then you need to bush them after gun drilling. On my b1 mc setup I use t&d paired rockers, Trend push rods, Comp elite lifters and best machine installed restrictors in the back of the block to control the oil.

Best machine race engines is pretty much a master of b1 heads and pushrod oiling mine work perfect I would call them

When you drill the block for lifter oiling like the factory does, the lifter bores will LEAK a TON compared to how we did Forest's block...not saying it's wrong, but it makes a very big difference in leakage going from factory type oiling to a metered .060 hole!

And no chance of aerating the oil with a small hole that cannot be uncovered.

Thanks first for the picture and everyone for their information. I do like the idea of oiling them individually. Brian do you run a jet for each line the .060 you mentioned? Also are all of the lifter holes drill through with 1/8 npt fittings? Are they drilled through the same or are they stepped down?

Thanks

What size are the oil restrictors in the back of the block? Some common ones I saw are 0.060".

You MIGHT want to look at 1/16" pipe.. but first see
if you can find 1/16" tubing.. that way you could
leave it open without any restriction... I run 1/16"
pipe to 1/16" compression for my EGT probes... but
first look at availability and cost.. you might end
up going with 1/8"... if you want to restrict you can
braze or solder the end of the brass 1/8" fitting
and drilling to what you want.. I run .062 holes in
my bushed lifter bores with push rod oiling and EDM
holes in the lifters to oil the rollers.. thats more
than enough oiling.. the builder suggested .040 but
I told him .062.. I should have listened to the pro
but I'm not having any problems
EDIT
on most 1/8" tubing the ID is .062 so you can just
leave it that

Thanks again everyone. Mr p body that's good to know I will look into 1/8. My original plan was to just run 3/16 stainless line and run a flare jet fitting at each lifter but that seems like a good alternative. And Bruce that would be great. I'm ready to start working I. This I should have te block next week.

Thanks, cody

Thanks, it is good to know that 0.060" as a starting point is plenty of oil for the top end, and it could be restricted further based on your and BMRE experience.
