My Challenger is pretty basic,

1.06 FF t bars
Stock front sway bar
ESPO XHD leafs
KYBs at all 4 corner
Subframe connectors

Eventually I am adding some FF or Hotchkis sway bars.

I run 15 inch wheels and don't know that I will be changing them anytime soon(wheels and tires are expensive!)
I currently have 235/60 and 245/60r15s F/R on the car. BFG T/As of course.

What's going to happen handling wise if I put Nitto drag radials on the back? This is a road car. It's not an auto Xer, but I want it to handle well. I like driving it on old country roads. Not excessively fast necessarily, but I don't want to ruin my handling by throwing street slicks on the back and keeping the hard compound T/As up front.

Also, would siping the T/As help with traction?

I guess what I wondering is will this cause a dangerous combination of understeer?

Dangerous? Not necessarily. You're adding grip to the rear, not adding roll resistance to the front, so IMO your front should retain the same level of grip it had before (same weight transfer, same tire); the caveat is the rear will now have more grip, so you may be tempted to push the combo further. The change will definitely be a move in the 'more grip in rear' direction. Depending on where you currently lie (understeer/balanced/oversteer), this could be a good or a bad thing.

Does the car currently have a tendency to oversteer or understeer?

If you make the change and you find it's got too much push for your taste, then swap in a larger front Hellwig bar. Or put drag radials on the front and report back (I'd love the nitto drag radial to be a 'good' cornering tire for all 4 - you could be the guinea pig)

Seems to have a decent amount of understeer now, but I haven't pushed it to hard in the corners...

I was thinking about M/T drag radials in the front, I think they make a 245/60r15

Considering that Drag radials usually have taller sidewalls, I'd wonder about lateral response. I've considered getting them for the Charger but I like tight reaction on switchbacks. I'd expect taller sidewalls to have more flex, reducing the confidence level.
Report back what you learn.

Drag radials just are not designed for hard cornering. Nitto NT555II is a cornering DR or just run NT01's.

I run the Nitto NTO5 Drag Radials on my car &I'm very happy with the handling.Mine are 19" rim size so I have a shorter sidewall but if any thing is now faster as you can run 30 PSI on the street(I run 26 PSI Cold in mine)and let them down to 18 PSI if you want to race.Due to running higher air pressure unlike low pressure in a Drag Slick you will not have any problems at 80-90 MPH in curves. If you want Traction the NTO5 Drag Radial is the right choice if its only handling you want the NT555 is best.It said my picture was to big to post so I added a link hopefully for you to see I run them.
