Tackling a project this summer and looking for help Started with a really clean 87 Ramcharger 360/727. Have a 5.7 from an 06 ram. I want to keep the 727. I have purchased an Auto Hot Wire harness, an 05 hemi ecm, an 03 hemi bellcrank. Looking for advice, parts sources, tech info on the overall project, specifically engine tranny matchup, exhaust (headers?), air conditioning, fuel, cooling, power steering. appreciate any advice and will gladly supply pictures and reports as the project advances

There is a user (JesseR) selling a 5.7 out of an 82, hopefully he find this post and can chime in on some useful tips. ad is here

From what I know I think you will need to fabricate the engine mounts, a small block 727 will bolt onto the new hemi with just a new flexplate available from mopar. I imagine any rad that will cool a BB will cool a 5.7. headers will most likely be shorty truck units. These are all just guesses though

Thank you, the links were very informative. Looks like I might have to contact the S & P folks. Tom

So how do you make the speedometer work without the rear axle sender? I put a 96 Van 318 fuel injected motor in my 88 Ramcharger and that problem still stumps me. I wanted the O.D. trans ,maybe that's the problem.

looks like they used a Dakota Digital SGI-5 speedometer signal interface, probably feeds off the transmission and then requires you to swap in an electronic speedometer.
