hauled my junk to carlisle over the weekend the brake quit halfway . I pulled over , restarted the truck it worked once and quit again . No biggy just couldnt jake. ( i know its not a jake ) Still had gobs of power and 95 mph and 60' long is no problem . My truck loves and eats hills with a load ..
All fuses good , truck wont warm up with the brake anymore . I gotta couple trips planned this summer , I dont want to pull the turbo and clean it yet . Any risks here ? any other experiences ?
No codes on my hs tuner - truck has no egr , Very minimal exhaust , and no dpf .
More than likely the air cylinder is sticking, they do need maintenance/lube put in the air cylinder as normal maintenance. You disconnect the air line from the solenoid and squirt some oil into the air line and then reconnect. Also you need the lube the shaft .PIA and not many people do it but it needs to be done. I use them on my trucks and have read the directions. I have replaced several of mine after they wear out and start sticking.
I would advise to stop using it until you can examine it after taking it off. Because it can stick closed and shut you down.
Good luck
You can replace just the air cylinder, but I have found it's best to replace the whole thing.

Everyones 6.7 runs still ?
only the ones that are deleted! I can honestly say my hatred of those trucks has risen to an incredibly high level. I'll never own one in stock form....NEVER! ...they do however make me appreciate my 01!
on your exhaust brake.... might be sooted to the point where the sleave is stuck. On a stock truck this would generally set a dtc (2262) and there is a diag test that will either direct you to clean or replace the turbo. With aftermarket tuner/program....all bets are off.

...and anyone with 300k to 400k is obviously towing and using the s##t out of their trucks which actually helps. My prob is the rest of these trucks that get driven like cars, and maybe tow once/twice a month (and not much weight to boot). Change oil indicators coming on at 3k, check eng lights due to O2 sensor codes, sooted up turbos, stuck egr valves.... the list goes on. I'm not a huge fan of power adders, but an H&S tuner, and pipe in place of the dpf was an awesome upgrade. 4-5 better mpg, change oil when YOU want, not dictated by a crankcase getting diluted with fuel from regen events. '
upside is that I'm always busy at work .... so I'll not own one, stock anyways. fwiw I'm more impressed with the newer engine equipped with the DEF system. They've cut using the egr considerably with this system and have been getting better mpg, oil life last considerably longer, and they finally wised up and went with more fuel filter.

Yeah I traded an 05 for a new 14 and I love this new truck.

Yep / for sure - The dealer cleaning does not necessarily Excercize the brake when you have the dpf delete . They reflashed with stock setup . Turbo works , but cant test brake. Reloaded the tuner .. Will see what resulted from the flush . My turbo does modulate from 0-40% though . Just dont understand why brake wont work. Might be because all codes/ because emissions gone.? More to be determined today . Making progress But i might be forced to bench clean turbo Or buy a super B setup ..

Needs new turbo .. Cummins paid 1/2 .. 2300 $ bill , i lucked out severely. I guess . They even did it with dpf delete.. I figured it was 3/4 the amount of a superB and a brake. So i have a rebuilt cummins turbo and 2 yr warranty. After i showed them 20 service tickets on the truck since new - There was not much argument that my complaint of poor mileage every other month was caused by turbo from the get go . Still sucks but better than a stick in my other eye .
