Just curious to see what everyone here has used for torque specs on a 500" 440 source kit based on a 440 RB.
I have these specs from the Service Manual:
-Rod bolts: 45 ft lbs
-Main Bearing Caps: 85 ft lbs.

Thanks for the input in advance!

Don't use those specs..they are for smaller lower grade bolts, 440 Source uses 7/16 ARP SP2000 bolts, the stock bolt is 3/8, I/m on the road & my sheet is at home so I won't quote a # but it's alot higher then what you've got there...

I'll be home saturday... Are you using ARP main bolts or studs? FWIW 75 sounds right for the rods but again I don't have the spec in front of me...85 is stock bolts, pretty sure ARP studs are higher...

cudabob, thanks for the link. I have those specs , but I can only use the main cap specs. The rod bolts are ARP and require a higher torque spec.
I e-mailed Kim @ 440 source and he was kind enough to call me early today.
He gave me the torque specs:

ARP Main Bolts (not studs): 85 ft lbs
ARP2000 Rod bolts: 75 ft lbs
ARP 8740 Rod bolts: 60 ft lbs

My belief has always been:

The correct torque (and lube) to use on the mains is to duplicate whatever was used when the block was align honed.

The correct torque (and lube) to use on the rods is to duplicate whatever was used when the rods were resized (or if not resized, then initially machined.
