Im not having any luck finding a good used wiper motor in my area so i guess ill have to buy a remanufactured one somewhere. I have a 2 speed switch and a variable speed switch so a wiper for either one would be fine for me. Im not looking for one that looks resto correct. I just want one that works. Where can I find one online?

Be aware that the 2 & 3-speed wiper motors use different link rods and various other parts.
You can't replace a 2-speed with a 3-speed without the wiper specific hardware.

I goy my 2 speed (70 Charger) for $30 from Auto Zone. But I can't use it as I went w/ a 6-pack. Now try and find a 3 speed for under $250 (in presentable shape)

$250 for a good used 3 speed motor? Or a rebuilt one?

Are you looking for one without that little black plastic cover on the center?

rebuilt, I don't need a fresh rebuilt one but I want one that works and doesn't look like poo poo. I have one that works, but everything on the fire wall is new, the car is painted and a fresh 440-6 is going in the car. So I want it to look newish.

How do i know which harware I have? My car had a 2 speed switch in it with a 3 speed wiper when i bought it. It worked 'okay' then but seems I do remember the link rods slightly hitting somewhere. I tried a 2 speed wiper at one time and I believe it worked fine. So im guessing I need the 2 speed unit but how do I know for sure what hardware I have?

This is for a 70 Fury, but it shows the differences in the two systems.

Then YOU make yours not look like poo poo OR pay someone else to make it not look like poo poo.

Most of those guys who fix them up do a fairly complete deal and disassemble the unit, plate the can and bolts, carefully bead blast the housing, re-glyptal(sp?)the goo on the wires, inspect clean and lube the guts. On the more complete side, others will put will rebuilt the electric motors, replace bearings, gears etc...

You could clean the housing and can, then find paint to look like bare grey die cast and yellow anodizing. Steel wool the brass ground strap. And maybe find a electrical supply place with some red glyptal. But may have to buy more than you could ever use. Maybe you could fake the glyptal with paint or some red RTV.

At the auto parts stores they dont show any wiper motor for a 70 barracuda. They do show em for plenty of a bodies and b bodies. Is their a difference in the wiper motors or is it just an error?

Make sure you match up your 70 crank arm to the new unit before you buy it... The later motors have a different mounting boss....

see what number you have on your transmission arm 282293(3 speed) or 282292, and buy a motor that'll work with that. for 3 speed, you need motor number 3431077. I've got one, but the wires are cut, and it's date coded for a 71. excellent core for a 1971 cuda.

Im pretty sure I need a 2 speed motor for my cuda. I cant find one of those for a 70 e body at any of the parts stores though What is the big difference between all of these 2 speed motors? And is their any other car that I could take a wiper motor from? I have a friend that has plenty of 71 and up b bodies if one from one of those would work.

Im kinda thinking I may have 3 speed linkage now. On a 70 cuda, 2 speed linkage has a cam setup on the arm thats attached to the wiper motor right? But a 3 speed doesnt have the cam? If so I have the 3 speed linkage.

The e-body 3sp has a bronze bushing the 2sp has a nylon bushing. The 70-71 linkage is different than the 72-74 so watch that

Is there a way to test this motor without installing it? Also, it's really not a 3 speed motor is it?? Isn't it really a variable speed?

Ok the numbers on my arm are 282293 so i guess I need a 3 speed motor. What other cars would I be able to use the motor off of for my 70 cuda?
